This month, households that are registered in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will get the maximum amount of benefits.
Governor Hochul also announced that all SNAP families would receive supplementary allotments in May, totaling almost $234 in additional food assistance.
This emergency assistance supplement is offered to all families, even those who are currently receiving the maximum amount of benefits.
In a news release, Governor Hochul remarked, “While New York continues to rebuild stronger than before, far too many homes are living with food insecurity.” “We can assist struggling families to make ends meet and keep food on the table by delivering the greatest amount of food benefits to those in need.” As we work together toward a more prosperous future for all New Yorkers, this investment will assist countless families to escape the heartbreaking possibility of food poverty.”
These advantages may also be utilized to buy baby food and formula in New York during supply chain shortages and recalls.
By Saturday, May 21, SNAP families in all counties outside of New York City should have received these additional payments. By Saturday, May 28, SNAP families in the five-county New York City area should have received their payments.
