The Public’s Opinion of Putin and Russia in the United States Is Deteriorating

According to a new study released on Wednesday, American popular opinion of Russia has declined since the latter invaded Ukraine in February.

According to a Pew Research Center poll, 70% of Americans now perceive Russia to be an enemy of the US.

This is an increase from 41% in January.

Russia is viewed as an adversary by 72 percent of Democrats and 69 percent of Republicans, respectively.

According to the poll, 92 percent of Americans have a bad view of Russia, with 69 percent having a very unfavorable impression of the country.

The poll was taken between March 21 and 27, just over a month after Russia invaded Ukraine.

It also discovered that 7% of adults in the United States have a favorable impression of Russia. Putin, the Russian president, is backed by 6% of respondents. On the other hand, 72 percent of those polled believe that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is trustworthy.

The survey also inquires about Americans’ trust in NATO, which is frequently addressed in the news. Since Russia’s invasion, American sentiments toward NATO have improved. The organization was rated favorably by two-thirds of those polled, up from 61 percent in 2021. Meanwhile, 69 percent of Americans believe that being a part of NATO benefits them a lot or a little.
